Pet Friendly! Located on one of the more tree-canopied streets on the island, our home will provide you with the perfect vacation getaway you have been looking for. The live oaks that cover this area give you the feeling like you are in your own world. Once you park your car under the carport in the back, you may not need to use it again during your stay. Cummings Lane is a very cozy, quiet, and peaceful location. It is only one block long with more people walking than driving. The trees and landscaping provide a sense of privacy and seclusion from neighbors. It is truly our favorite street on the island.
We are in a convenient location at the south end of the island, just about a 10-minute (0.4 mile) walk to the beach and 15-minute (0.7 mile) walk to the Pier Village. When you visit the Village you can shop in a variety of interesting stores, eat in local restaurants, and listen to our amazing local bands. Since the beach is also within walking distance we have a beach cart, cooler, beach towels, and some beach toys to make your beach time more enjoyable. We are also centrally located to many more fun activities for the whole family to discover.
The cottage has all that you will need for a great vacation getaway. You will love the open floor plan of the living/dining area with the pass-through window to the kitchen. The bedrooms each have their own bathroom and can be considered to be their own suite. This makes the home ideal for one or two couples or for families with children. There is a dining area as part of the great room, another dining area in the screened porch, and a patio dining set on the back deck. The living room has two comfortable couches, a flat screen TV, games and books. The outdoor areas are wonderful for relaxing around the house. However, the front porch is truly our favorite spot with a comfortable double Adirondack chair, rocking chairs, a porch swing, and a great porch railing at the perfect height for putting your feet up while having your morning coffee or sipping a glass of wine.
We strive to provide a cottage that is comfortable, clean, and well-equipped. However, another goal is to provide an exceptionally well-maintained home and since this is our home for five months every year we are able to do this. Many other vacation homes are never really lived in by their owners, as ours is, and we think that makes a real difference. Because we actually live at the cottage for an extended period of time, we are able to offer a rental cottage that it is much more likely to provide you with that perfect trouble-free stay.
Other amenities include a large hot water outdoor shower, large back deck in a private (fully fenced) back yard, fully-equipped kitchen, cable TV, wireless internet access, and more. The kitchen is fully stocked with quality appliances, dishes, pots and pans, spices, and many other items you would need for those who enjoy eating in.

We are retired teachers from rural upstate New York and spend our winters on St Simons Island. Our discovery of St. Simons Island was by chance and we immediately fell in love with the village, the beautiful beaches, and friendly people. We rented vacation homes for many years, both on school breaks and as retiree snowbirds, and this helped us learn what makes a good vacation rental. We purchased the cottage in 2012 and are very happy to share arli cottage by making it available to vacationers during the spring, summer, and fall. House Rules
1. Smoking is allowed OUTSIDE only.
2. People other than those in the Rental Party set forth above may not stay overnight in the property. Any other person on the property is the sole responsibility of Guest.
3. The Homeowners are not responsible for any accidents, injuries, or illness that occurs while on the premises or its facilities. The Homeowners are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guest. By accepting this reservation, it is agreed that all occupants are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from their use of the premises or others whom they invite to use the premises.
4. Keep the property and all furnishings in good order.
5. Only use appliances for their intended uses.
6. Parking: There is ample parking on the gravel area on the property. Parking on the road is not advised due to the narrowness of Cummings Lane. Any illegally parked cars are subject to towing; applicable fines/towing fees are the sole responsibility of the vehicle owner.
7. Housekeeping: There is no daily housekeeping service. While linens and bath towels are included in the house, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate. We do provide beach towels and request that you do not use house towels for that purpose. We do not permit house towels or linens to be taken from the house. Washing machine, dryer, vacuum, and some basic cleaning supplies are provided for your convenience.
8. Water and Sewer: DO NOT FLUSH anything other than toilet paper. No feminine products should be flushed at anytime. If it is found that feminine products have been flushed and cause a clog, you could be charged damages for repairs.
9. Storms: If there is a storm or hurricane, refunds will be given under the following conditions:
• The state or local authorities order mandatory evacuations in a "Tropical
Storm/Hurricane Warning area."
• The day that the authorities order a mandatory evacuation order in a
"Tropical Storm/Hurricane Warning," area, we will refund:
Any unused portion of rent from a guest currently registered.
Any unused portion of rent from a guest that is scheduled to
arrive and wants to shorten the stay to come in after the
Hurricane Warning is lifted.
Any advance rents collected or deposited for a reservation
that is scheduled to arrive during the "Hurricane Warning"
period.
10. Departure: Your assistance with the following would be helpful.
• Place used towels in bath tub.
• Leave beds unmade.
• Load and start dishwasher.
• Remove and discard opened items from cabinets and refrigerator.
• Throw out all trash and recyclables and move bins to end of
driveway for pickup.
• Set house thermostat: Summer 80° and winter 55º

Payment Policy
Payments by credit card accepted through our Paypal Business Account. Payments also accepted by a check in the mail.
Refundable Damage Deposit
Normal wear and tear is not considered damage. Damage deposit will be refunded within a week of check-out.
Cancellation Policy
• If Guest wishes to cancel his/her reservation, any payments received will be refunded as follows: Guest will receive a 50% refund, when canceling up to 30 days before check-in.
• No refunds for cancellations within 30 days of Check-in Date unless we are able to fully rebook.
• No refunds will be given for early departures, late arrivals, inclement weather, eviction, mechanical malfunction, or interruption of utilities. We will make every effort to ensure necessary repairs are completed in an expedient manner.
