First time to St Lucia? We suggest you start by deciding the best part (North or South) of the island for your vision of an ideal vacation. This is important, as the distances between the different parts of the island are a lot longer than they look on the map. It's about a 90-minute drive (each way) from the North to the South on very twisty roads (with driving on the left - "British" - side of the road). You'll end up spending most of your vacation near your accommodation, so be sure to stay in the south if you want to "play" in the south - and vice versa.
The South is where you find the iconic Pitons and views that will literally stop you in your tracks. Here is where the best outdoor activities are located - hiking through the rain forest, climbing a Piton mountain, snorkeling, SCUBA diving, dolphin and whale watching, waterfalls, ATV rides, zip lining, plantation tours, horseback riding, mountain biking, mud baths and the drive-in volcano, wind and kite-surfing, and of course, relaxing on the beach, including the white-sanded Sugar Beach. A few resorts/hotels and private villas are sprinkled across the hillsides, many (like ours) positioned to get the most amazing views. The restaurants range from food trucks for lunch to white-tablecloth fine dining. There is a much more local and laid-back vibe to this part of the island than the North. If you are looking for an outdoor and active vacation, or to simply stay at an accommodation with incredible views of the Pitons and feel your stress melt away, this is the part of the island you want. And ten years after a stay in Soufriere, you'll immediately recognize your trip pictures as being from St Lucia!
The North (Rodney Bay/Castries/Gros Islet) is where you find all the large resorts, lots of restaurants, a casino, duty-free shopping, etc. There is a little hiking and snorkeling on Pigeon Island (in Gros Islet). The views are nice, but overall the area is not too dissimilar from many other Caribbean Islands. This is the area to choose if you are looking to just soak up the sun on the beach with all the other tourists,, and want a typical Caribbean beach town to walk around in the evening for bars and restaurants for tourist-oriented nightlife.
Does the south sound perfect for you? Then the only thing missing for your dream vacation is the perfect villa. How about one that is almost like a private hotel, with staff to take care of you while you enjoy stunning sunsets and jaw-dropping views of the Pitons? Our home, Villa Grand Piton, may just be the answer! You and your family/friends will be the only guests in our spacious home, and have our sparking pool to yourselves to enjoy the magnificent view of the Pitons, the Caribbean and the sunsets. Our friendly staff will keep the villa clean, help you plan your activities, and anything else you need to make your vacation truly unforgettable. Hotels offer meal plans and driver services, and we do, too - just inquire for details and pricing.

Picture a romantic, tranquil, spacious villa, high on the ridge of a hill overlooking the Caribbean.
Start your day watching the sailboats glide along the sea under a rainbow, while sipping a cup of smooth local coffee or cappuccino.
Float in the sparkling swimming pool, surrounded by cashew trees and brilliant bougainvillea. Or grab your gear and go snorkeling or diving at the best areas in St Lucia, only a short drive away.
Dine on delicious freshly-caught fish outside in the shaded gazebo as the sun sets over the Caribbean.
After dinner, marvel at the Milky Way and the billions of stars in the inky-black night sky.
Sip a glass of wine while being cooled by the mountain breeze.
Watch for shooting stars while being serenaded by the music of the night.
Everywhere you look, you are surrounded by a postcard-perfect panorama of the Piton mountains and the Caribbean Sea and the most amazing sunsets. Inside, you have all the comforts of home with comfortable queen beds, en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioners blowing cool air on the beds, a wonderfully-equipped full kitchen and an entertainment room.

Our housekeeper and property manager, Doxie, is an excellent cook - she can either just do the cooking for a modest fee (usually about $20 US for a multi-course dinner) or provide your entire meal (please ask for pricing).

My husband and I have been married for over 20 years, and just sent our youngest child off to college. We both have stressful full-time jobs as engineers in the energy industry, and we have to fight the traffic of a big city every day. We're getting close to retirement, so we started looking for a place to retire a few years ago, and decided that St Lucia was the only choice after visiting multiple times. We grew up in the Midwest, and never, ever dreamt that we'd retire in the Caribbean! But we love St Lucia so much, we decided to buy our retirement home a few years early, and share our home, so that you can experience the joy of spending time in St Lucia, too.
