In 1995, on a day trip from Puerto Vallarta, we discovered Sayulita, and everyone in the family fell in love with this laid-back and authentic fishing and surfing village. The people were friendly, the beach beautiful and the air magical. Much has changed since then, but the basic character of the village is unchanged. Many people have discovered Sayulita, and the town has enjoyed several building booms in the last two decades. The villagers are still welcoming, the beach is still beautiful, and magical connections and coincidences occur daily. I grew up in Switzerland, Austria, and Greece, and have seen many different places in the world, but Sayulita is truly a special corner of paradise. We built the building in 2006-2007, with five separate apartments, so we could host our family members. This also gives us the honor of being able to host visitors to Sayulita when the apartments are vacant. My husband and I live in Seattle most of the time; we are both retired.
