With our EV charging station, you can explore the Gold County all day and recharge while you sleep!

Who doesn't love electric vehicles? They are sleek and modern looking, whisper quiet on the road, and extremely low maintenance. Owners don't have to take time out of their day to gas up, or get their hands dirty in the process. There is no oil to change, no timing belt or transmission fluid to worry about, the list goes on. In fact, the only thing we have to add under the hood of our own EV is windshield wiper fluid! Nowadays, there is an EV to fit all budgets and lifestyles.

If there is one downside to the EV lifestyle, it is that the range can vary depending on vehicle. Some EVs are best for short, local hops, and some are capable of going further before needing to recharge. Driving to a rural area like ours can make even the most fervent EVangelist a little cautious. Fortunately, guests at Gold Creek Cabin have complimentary access to our Level 2 Tesla Wall Connector and JDapter Stub. The TWC is compatible with all Tesla models except the Roadster. For EVs with a J1772 plug (which is most other non-Tesla EVs), the JDapter Stub adapts the Tesla plug to J1772 (see picture below).

We hope you get out there and experience all this area has to offer! This is a beautiful area for road trips or a simple meandering drive on winding country roads. You'll see that electric motors aren't affected by altitude like internal combustion engines are. SO much fun to effortlessly zip up Highway 88 to the Potholes and beyond to Kirkwood! And the road back down the mountain is a great way to test or enhance your regenerative braking skills. Join our informal competition and let us know how many miles you gained going from up top back to the cabin below!

UPDATE:
We are happy to report that Amador County now has our very own Tesla Supercharger station! The station went live in late 2020 and is located in the Park and Ride lot behind Mel and Faye’s Diner on Highway 88 in Jackson. On a recent visit, we had the pick of any of the 8 stalls, a bank of 7 in a row along the side of the lot and a separate one nearby. The new stalls are beautiful and of course lightning fast. You’ll be able to load up on a few more miles and then be on your way again in no time. Or stay for a longer charge, and explore Jackson on foot!
