Tennis courts near Lake Lure and Mill Spring
There are several places where guests can play tennis in the area.
There are two tennis courts near the Lake Lure Visitor Center and Morse Park. This is first come, first serve. Distance from cabin is 5.5 miles.
Directions: Drive towards Chimney Rock. Once you pass the Beach at Lake Lure, enter the parking lot where the visitor center is (on right side of road).
Polk County Recreation Complex has two tennis courts. They are connected to Laughter Pond (a place where you can fish). This is also first come, first serve. Distance from cabin is 10.5 miles.
Directions: From the cabin, turn right onto Hwy 9 (at the corner of Ingles grocery). Continue to Hwy 108. Turn right on 108. Within a few tenths of a mile, you will pass Laughter Pond. Your next right is Wolverine Trail. Turn here and you will see the tennis courts on your right. Polk County Middle School will be on the left.
Harmon Field in Tryon has four tennis courts. These are first come, first serve, or you can reserve a court for a fee. Most likely you will find an open court though. Distance is about 18 miles from the cabin. Harmon Field also has a 1/4 mile running track, basketball courts, baseball fields, children's playground, and walking trails.
