There are other BluRays as well. Feel free to use the DVR to record movies from Directv. Ingles grocery down the road has a Red Box. 

Can I Bring Standard DVDs?

Yes. Just keep in mind that standard dvds can't play in high definition, but they will still work.

Do I need to bring popcorn for the popcorn machine?

Complimentary popcorn is provided for the machine, with the condition it is cleaned after each use. Butter and oils will solidify inside the machine if left overnight. Microwave butter popcorn is available for those who prefer not to bother with the popcorn macine,
