Does Houfy collect, remit, and file my lodging/TOT/guest occupancy tax?
No. Houfy doesn't interfere between guest and host payment transactions. Square and Stripe are payment options integrated with Houfy. If you do connect a Square or Stripe account to your Houfy listing, the funds never touch Houfy's bank account.

How does a traveler reserve and make payment?
Unlike most platforms where you don't get paid till guest check-in, Houfy does not interfere in your payment transactions. All transactions pass between you and your guest only. As such, hosts choose their own forms of payment acceptance: check, Square, Stripe, Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, bank transfer, etc. It's entirely up to you.

External Surveillance Cameras
The property has external cameras placed in the front deck, parking lot, front of the waterfall, and zipline. This video footage is not shared publicly and is recorded in cases of a break-in, death, injury, guests sneaking in pets, guests disregarding the maximum occupancy allowed, and in no way infringes upon guests’ expectations of privacy in these public areas of the property.

Why Your Guests Should Be Signing a Rental Agreement
While most reservations will go smoothly as planned, there may be times when you'll be asked to produce a signed Rental Agreement. Even hotels have you sign an agreement at check in, at the same time they ask for your ID and credit card. Agreements can be signed manually or digitally–and both methods are legally upheld in the courts.

Why Should I Promote Houfy When I Have My Own Website?
Ask yourself this: "What percentage of bookings will be generated solely by my own website in one year, two years, three years?" Only a handful of hosts can truthfully say 100% of bookings will come from their own website. The majority will continue to rely upon the OTAs (online travel agencies).

Where do I add my city permit or tax identification number/code?
Many cities require property owners to showcase a unique identification number - commonly referred to as tourist ID codes, registration numbers and transient accommodation tax numbers. It's an important piece of information that ensures the safety and security of locals no matter where they are in the world!
