Welcome to Sugar Dune! We are located at a unique, narrow section of Hatteras Island that is one row back from BOTH the beach and the sound. Our street is one of only a few places on the Outer Banks with access to both! Sugar dunes and cotton candy skies are just the cherry on top of this unique location--its truly the sweetest spot on the island!A popular spot for wind/kitesurfing, kayaking, and SUPs on the sound side. The ocean side provides a wonderful beach for kids (flat, gradual slope) and beachcombing. We are also about a mile from Ramp 49 for those who enjoy the ORV beach experience. About a mile to the ferry terminal for a day trip to Ocracoke. Whatever your favorite Hatteras Island experience, it’s nearby!
THE SPACE
This is a new construction home built with your unforgettable holiday in mind! The unique location means you enjoy water views from every room! You’ll see the ocean from the common areas and the sound from the bathroom and two bedrooms. Bring your binoculars for a better look at the dolphins, bald eagles, egrets, herons, and other shorebirds that also call Sugar Dune home. This first floor cottage is completely separate from a second floor owner’s living space. There is a separate entrance, separate HVAC (that you control), and upgraded soundproofing insulation throughout. Not a good fit for large groups or night owls (quiet hours 10p to 8a, please) or those opposed to occasionally hearing us upstairs.
Kitchen
Full, eat-in kitchen (table for four) stocked with everything you need to make a basic a meal at home.
Living Room
TV for streaming and views of the ocean. Basic cable also included.
Primary bedroom
Queen bed with views of the sound.
Second bedroom
Two twin beds and a desk (high speed WiFi). Views of the sound.
Bath
Large vanity with plenty of counter space. Tub for the littles if you have them.
Laundry
Washer and dryer en suite for guests.
Deck
Enjoy a sunrise or sunset over the water from a private, covered, balcony deck.
Parking
Covered parking for up to two vehicles. Please contact us prior to booking if you would require additional parking.

No smoking is allowed on the property.

Advance rental payment of 50% of the total rent is required to confirm booking.
Final balance payments are due 45 days prior to the arrival date. Reservations made less than 45 days prior to arrival must be paid in full to confirm booking. Final payment balances must be paid in full prior to check-in or occupancy will not be permitted.

Damage Deposit Policy
As a security deposit alternative, houfyProtect, an upfront nonrefundable low cost property damage protection policy for just $5 per night, is taken at time of booking.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation requests must be made in writing and receipt confirmed by owner. If the property is re-rented for the cancellation period, tenant will be refunded the contract amount less $250 re-rental fee and any difference between contract amount and the re-rental rate. If the property is not re-rented for the cancellation period, tenant will forfeit all advance payments.
