Please note: this is a guest suite. It has two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a kitchenette with a microwave, toaster, keurig, small fridge, and freezer but does not have a full kitchen.
Please also note: the bedroom/living area is being re-done and will not have 2 green chairs or a king bed as shown in the current pictures. It will have a queen murphy bed with the option to have a small dining table if the queen bed is not needed. Pictures will be updated as soon as the changes are finished.
Enjoy a stylish experience at this centrally located home. It is 5 minutes from the French Quarter and the Marigny, where you can find some of the best live music in the city!
Walking distance to French Quarter: approximately 1 mile/15 min walk
Time in car to French Quarter: approx 5 minutes to French Quarter
Walking distance to great restaurants : Port of Call, Ruby Slipper, Dat Dog, Morrows, Paladar 511, Barrilleauxs Restaurant and Wine Bar, Marigny Brasserie. You will have your own private suite in this cozy and eclectically-designed space with one bedroom with a queen bed, one bathroom, and bedroom/ living area (this room has a queen murphy bed but if that is not needed, can be made into a sitting room with a small dining table).
Within walking distance to great and quirky restaurants, live music, and bars. Close to everything but quiet. The house is divided into two separate living spaces, similar to an apartment. The guest suite (as shown in all photos) is a completely private living area that can only be accessed by the guest and has a private entrance. The private guest quarters are separate from the host’s section. There are no shared living spaces or interior spaces. The hosts section is the host’s primary residence with a private entrance. It is accessible only by the host and is not part of the rental. You may occasionally hear us watching TV, chatting, or cooking. There is a small, shared outdoor space separate from the patio (patio dining area will be used by guests only).
About the neighborhood:
This private guest suite is located in the 7th Ward of New Orleans. The neighborhood has a whole lot of history. It was historically a Creole neighborhood and many of the beautiful Creole architectural structures remain, despite severe weathering. Before the interstate was developed, there were amazing oak trees that were unfortunately torn down but the people in this community keep them alive with beautiful paintings of them you can see along the street level of the interstate structure. Many jazz musicians are from the 7th Ward, like Jelly Roll Morton. Also, lots of Mardi Gras Indians and their amazing traditions come from the 7th Ward. There are second lines that march along S Claiborne and converge at Hunters Field in the 7th Ward (within walking distance).
The neighborhood is amazing and diverse, which is a great part of living so close to the French Quarter. Its quiet yet urban and so close to the French Quarter and Marigny, as well as being centrally-located to the rest of New Orleans. We love the neighborhood and all different types of people and culture here. If thats not something that youre interested in, this space may not be right for you.
Also, being this close to the French Quarter comes with rough roads; New Orleans is famous for potholes so just be on the lookout if youre driving.
Central air conditioner is set to 72-74 degrees and each room has its own air conditioner and heater unit for you to set for your comfort. Please turn the window air conditioners off when not in use.
Security cameras on property:
1: gated entrance that is motion activated and records video/audio 24/7
#2: camera outside the entrance to the guest suite, motion-activated video/ audio (back door) 24/7
#3: records video and audio at the hosts private entrance (front door) 24/7

Getting around
Uber/Lyft are available and so convenient
It's an easy and fun walk to the French Quarter and the Marigny/Frenchmen area. We recommend walking during the day. As with any urban area, we would recommend Uber/Lyft at night.

Notes
You will have the entire guest suite with private back entrance to yourself, along with the back patio . Hosts (Steven and Crystal) occupy a separate space on the premises with our own private entrance. There is a separate SHARED outdoor space (small outdoor section is the ONLY shared space) and so for safety reasons, we cannot accept any animals.
Please note, this is the south. Though we treat for pests, the weather is hot and humid and a lot of insects are endemic and constantly look for a way to come inside. The yard (and throughout the entire city) will have mosquitos, small spiders, small lizards, termites, and other insects! You may also see a palmetto bug or two. We all hate them and want to avoid them! But this is a “south” issue and not a cleanliness one! We clean and sanitize after each guest. We also ask that you do not leave the doors or windows open for any extended amount of time because that can allow them to come in.
***Termite season is from March to July and this happens throughout New Orleans due to the heat and humidity. It can be worse after it rains. We have our home treated frequently but we cannot control the termites outside (although we wish we could!). Things to consider: termites are attracted to lights. Turn off all lights possible (you may need some lights for safety). If you can, turn off the light before opening the door because their goal is to come inside and they will take any opportunity. Please do not leave the door or windows open. We can provide a citronella candle upon request.
Parking: Street parking is free and easily available. Please do not block driveways. Please follow all driving and parking regulations.
